Dave Free (Kendrick's manager) : "Great job out there Kendrick, the fans were going wild out there!" Kendrick: "Thanks man, I just feel like something isn't right." Dave: "What's not right?" Kendrick: "Me, I'm not giving enough to them it seems like" Dave: "Hey, hey. How are you not giving enough? You and I have made sure that we push as far as we can, and we've reached the top." Kendrick: "No hear me out, it's almost like th-" Dave: "No, hear ME out. This show we just finished? Sold out show in a theater that fits 2,000 people. And how are you not giving them enough? Kendrick: "I have big things ahead of me, which means bigger ideas and bigger things that my fan base deserves." Dave: "You're right, there are big things ahead of you. Now you've got me confused though, what are you talking about?" Kendrick: "I'm ready. Another tour, another album. This is happening, remember, big things ahead. Dave: "I see you. This is happening."
TWO YEARS LATER
Interviewer: "Already a double platinum album, 603,000 copies sold in the first week of it's release. Kendrick, tell us about your musical masterpiece, DAMN." Kendrick: "This whole album was just a lot of me all over it. I am a human being just like the rest of you guys, I have emotions and I feel. I know that I am an icon and that I insipire people everyday, take my expressions of what I put into this album and do something with it." Interviewer: "Your last few albums your fans adored, how did you make something different yet still such a success?" Kendrick: "All of my work and every single song I write or every album I make always comes from my heart and mind. I took a little bit out of all of my albums to create my master piece. All of the meanings and all of the beats to come together to make one album for my fans, one that they would and will love." Interviewer: "When it all comes down to it, I am beyond impressed at the hip-hop genius you have become and grown into. Congradulations Kendrick." Kendrick: "Thank you. It's all about setting a goal and going for it. There's always big things ahead."
